BEAR VIEWING...BEAR ENCOUNTER AT ANAN
CREEK
The flight to Anan Creek is a memorable
journey north from Ketchikan, over the deep blue waters of Behm Canal
and the wild beauty of the Cleveland Peninsula. Upon landing, you will
be met by a Forest Service Ranger who will brief you on what to expect
on your hike to the viewing platform. The hike to the platform is about
20 minutes on a boardwalk and gravel/dirt trail. Another ranger will
greet you when you arrive at the bear observatory, and here begins the
reason for this trip! You will be overlooking one of the largest
concentrations of grizzlies and blacks to be found anywhere in Alaska. A
photo blind is available to help you capture unforgettable images. You
will have 1.5 to 2 hours at the observatory, depending on your transit
time on the trail and actual flight time to Anan.
