GUIDE'S CHOICE HIKING IN JUNEAU
$85 Per Person
The lands around Juneau, our 49th State’s capital city and fabled gold
mining and trading center, are among the most scenic and historic in all
of Alaska’s rich history. And they are best seen “up close and personal”
hiking through and upon them.
If you love to hike, and you’re able to maintain a moderate to brisk
pace that will take you between four and six miles over terrain that
varies between 600 and 1,000 feet elevation in 3½ hours, this is your
must see and do adventure.
Your friendly and knowledgable naturalist/guide will select the trail
best suited for the group’s collective experience and the day’s hiking
conditions, hence the name “Guide’s Choice.” The 3 possible trails are
the Mendenhall East Trail, the Mendenhall West Trail or the Perseverance
Trail.
Juneau and it environs, mountainous, delightfully unspoiled and
breathtakingly beautiful, are in the midst of the nearly 1 million acre
Tongass National Forest that dominates Southeast Alaska.
Eagles abound. Veils of mist shroud the surrounding peaks one minute,
then part to reveal panoramas so sweeping and magnificent they will
literally stop you in your tracks. You may hike along a rushing snow
melt stream, gaze down on a unbelievably blue glacial lake, and peer
into a forest so thick and seemingly impenetrable it will send shivers
up your spine.
There are many opportunities for photography. Interpretive stops are
frequent. Questions about the flora and fauna you encounter are
welcomed. And the memories you take back will be indelible.
